In honor of Dr. Myles Munroe, TWEF International is proud to announce $50,000 will be given away in scholarships during the 9th Annual International Financial and Leadership Summit October 1 through October 2, 2015 at the JW Marriot Galleria in Houston, TX.
The exciting two-day conference, hosted by TWEF, is themed “Economic Empowerment Through Diversity and Giving” and will benefit TWEF’s scholastic scholarships and programs at the Empowerment Community Center.
High-profiled professionals such as Iyanla Vanzant, an inspirational speaker, author, life coach and television personality on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), will put their busy businesses aside to raise funds for youth scholarship programs and the Eagle Scholars Enrichment Program’s Exposure Trip to Washington D.C. Other notable guests include this year’s Honorary Chairs and Houston natives, Tina Knowles, a former designer and manager of Destiny’s Child and international business mogul of the House of Dereon and Executive Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton Reginald Van Lee. Alongside Knowles and Lee, TWEF welcomes event chairs Aaron Lindsey, a five-time Grammy Award winning producer and songwriter, and Leigh Valentine, an entrepreneur who has sold over $250 million with her beauty innovations as founder of Leigh Valentine Beauty and an author.
Participants can choose to attend the entire summit with an all access registration or choose to attend individual sessions such as the Global Tribute Honoring Dr. Myles Munroe Legacy featuring high profile celebrity musical performances and dynamic speakers to focus on the value of partnership in the global community.

The International Financial and Leadership Summit is TWEF’s premier event. During the past ten years, TWEF has provided valuable resources and inspiration to more than 300,000 individuals through its annual Empowerment Conferences like the IFLS. The summit brings together high profile professionals, business leaders, and budding entrepreneurs for networking opportunities. Signature events during the summit will be recorded and televised internationally in over 200 countries.
TWEF is a non-profit organization that mentors families from all walks of life, helping them reach their fullest potential in the areas of personal development, business, education, finances and socio-economic development. TWEF also provides scholarships and empowerment programs for families.
Hats Off honors Houston mothers who have made significant contributions to their families and the Houston community. This event promises to be great fun and features a reception, seated luncheon and informal fashion show by Neiman Marcus Galleria. All proceeds benefit programs of Easter Seals Greater Houston, which serve children and adults with all types of disabilities.
The Houston’s Heroes Awards Luncheon presents five awards to Houston citizens, companies, or organizations that have shown great interest or made a contribution to public safety. This year, Crime Stoppers is putting a spotlight on Women in Public Safety.
NBC News correspondent Janet Shamlian will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon.

Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. (CRR) hosts the annual Barrier Breaker Luncheon to honor local leaders and acknowledge several of the organization’s star clients who have overcome personal barriers in order to achieve success. The luncheon is the organization’s main fundraiser and all proceeds benefit CRR training and employment services, which include career counseling, job search preparation, services to veterans and to the hearing impaired, intensive case management and training for job placement and retention, and substance abuse treatment, prevention and education.
Luncheon honorees are Marla and James Davis, and Darryl Montgomery. Marla and James Davis have dedicated their lives to empowering the Houston community through their outstanding leadership, advocacy and civic activities. Mr. Davis serves as the president of Gulfgate Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep Dealership. His wife, Marla Davis, is a retired human resource executive known for her calm approach and organizational skills while handling complex issues. This year’s corporate honoree is Darryl Montgomery, the regional president of Wells Fargo of Houston. Montgomery was instrumental in leading the recovery efforts for thousands of Wells Fargo employees and customers affected by Hurricane Katrina.
